A THREE HOUR TOUR!!!

Kind of like Gilligan's big adventure, this also lasted more that 3 hours. Actual "tour time" was 100 miles in 12 hours. The ride is called The White Rim Trail in Canyon Lands National Park. This (for some odd reason I have yet to figure out) has been an annual trek for me for the past 7 or so years. This trail is typically done in 3 days with support vehicles, food, camping gear, etc. We for some reason choose to do it in one day.

About 40 miles in we reached the crest of a hill and stopped to take a quick break. As my buddy came up behind me and stopped I said "40 down, only 60 to go". A lady overheard this and said 'You are doing this in one day!!?? WHY?" I didn't have a good answer.

One things for sure, however, the scenery is spectacular.

This is near the start of the ride. You drop down several thousand feet to the river at the start. There are several big climbs in the middle with a killer climb to get out.

Can you see the arch with a thousand foot drop off? It is kind of like those 3D paintings.

See all the switch backs? That's the 45 minute climb out.

I think you do it in one day so that you won't have to be away from your wonderful, adoring wife for so long.
OR
You really are a crazy glutton for punishment.
